The 2024 Fall Workshop

Learn to play clarinet simply, efficiently, and naturally and tap into outrageous success.

The truth is, most musicians in training don't know how to train themselves to achieve extraordinary results.

The scary thing that no one talks about?

You're not supposed to.

So, what happens, then, to a budding, inspired, enthusiastic clarinetist like you when you want an extra challenge to attain your next level of mastery? What happens when your current guide (like a conventional instructor) is not equipped to help you with the challenge of upleveling your skills?

You will try to throw more energy and time into a piece hoping effort alone will be enough to improve the performance quality.

I know I did.

I've even heard many teachers, both classroom and individual trainers, advocate for putting more time and effort into practicing.

I heard it as a student myself, and I hear it still from current teachers.

That is a dangerous business, because it reinforces the unspoken belief that if you only work just a little harder, just a little longer, you'll have that shiny success. You'll win the audition. You'll have the praise of your peers and the recognition you know you deserve. You'll receive the spotlight.

Unfortunately, that is only ONE part of the equation.

And unlike what traditional educators would have you believe, success is not awarded to those who work harder and longer.

Success is awarded to those who can deliver results.

It's hard to think that a trusted advisor would be misinformed, but if you approach practice as if time and effort are the only ingredients needed for success as a musician, the results are exhaustion and burnout from the repetitive nature of practicing.

Add to that recipe some resentment because of the hours, weeks, and months sunk into a project when you could have been doing homework or going out on a vacation with family.

And when sheer practice doesn't yield the desired results it can breed feelings of discouragement, failure, and fear of trying to reach for more.

But what if you could make the growth you want AND experience outrageous success in only two weeks with help, when it would probably take you at least a year or more on your own?

Or dare I say it, maybe... never? (Ouch.)

If you'd like to start experiencing more audition success without having to work harder or longer, this workshop is for you. I ran it live and it is now evergreen, so that you can watch it as many times as you want, whenever you want.

It will be like I'm in the room with you.

Bonus Content!

If you are new to the concept of voicing, I've added two extra resources to help achieve smoother legato, create lovelier large intervals, and eliminate unwanted squeaks. These instructions are so simple, even a first-timer can do it.

This mini-course explores fundamental techniques needed to improve your skill as a clarinetist . Using orchestral excerpts as the lens, we'll set up your practice with Tchaikovsky 4, Mvt. 4 and Brahms 3, Mvt. 1.

What You Receive

The best part is, these are passages in common repertoire. That means that you're likely to see them again, and if you do, you won't have to start from scratch.

These are the strategies and tools I wish someone had given me when I was learning to play at a high level.

Here's the proof. I took out these excerpts after 5 years, gave myself an hour to work on them, and this is what I came up with:
